How does the newest release of MySQL measure up to the task of managing a several GB database, especially in reporting?

Question: In regard to data warehouse and MySQL DBMS, how does the newest release of MySQL measure up to the task of managing a several GB database, especially in reporting? I understand MySQL cannot perform parallel querying and does not have other types of indexes such as bitmap, reverse, etc.

Chuck Kelley's Answer: For a several GB data warehouse, MySQL will be fine. MySQL does have parallel query, but you may not need parallel querying and different types of indexes to support that environment. The next question is "Do you have multiple CPU's on your database box?" If no, then it doesn't matter.
