Idera Speeds SQL Server Backup with New Version of SQLsafe

Idera, a provider of management and compliance solutions for Microsoft SQL Server environments, announced the availability of version 4.5 of SQLsafe, the company's high-performance backup and recovery solution for Microsoft SQL Server environments. SQLsafe version 4.5 speeds SQL Server database restores with new object-level recovery functionality that enables database administrators to restore individual tables instead of entire databases, dramatically reducing database restore times and downtime.

"I am very impressed with SQLsafe," said Roy Forkner, DBA, Winstead. "The new Object Level Recovery features in SQLsafe version 4.5 enabled me to quickly restore specific tables instead of the entire database. Besides being very easy to do, it saved a lot of time. If you need a quick and reliable backup product, I highly recommend SQLsafe."

SQLsafe provides a high-performance backup and recovery solution that reduces database backup times by up to 50 percent over native backups and saves disk space by compressing data by up to 95 percent. SQLsafe also offers hands-free automated backup of multiple SQL Servers, centralized monitoring and management of all backup jobs enterprise-wide, and five levels of encryption to help database administrators ensure compliance with corporate data security and backup policies.

The new version of SQLsafe version 4.5 also offers these new features:

  • Object level recovery: SQLsafe now enables recovery of specific tables from a database, saving valuable time in recovery situations.
  • Support for Microsoft Vista: The SQLsafe Management Console provides centralized management, monitoring & control of all SQL Server backups enterprise-wide. It can now be deployed on a computer running the Microsoft Vista operating system.
  • Full support for 64-bit environments: All components of SQLsafe can now be run on 32-bit or 64-bit hardware, in both homogenous and mixed environments.
