DataDirect XQuery Enables Applications Using New XQuery Standard

DataDirect Technologies, a provider of data connectivity and mainframe integration and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation, announced its support for the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) XQuery 1.0, the industry standard for accessing XML data.

The DataDirect Xquery product is a commercial XQuery implementation for XML. Testing W3C XQuery 1.0 in enterprise software applications, one DataDirect customer has found that the DataDirect XQuery product processes data up to seven times faster than other XQuery-based solutions. It can also support huge XML files of 50 gigabytes or more while maintaining superior performance and memory-consumption requirements.

DataDirect Technologies is a member of the W3C XML Query working group, acting as both a developer of the XQuery language and a test bed for new applications. DataDirect is one of the few companies to successfully complete the W3C XML Query Test Suite (XQTS), achieving greater than 99 percent compliance and near-perfect results. Based on the posted XQTS results, DataDirect Technologies is the only vendor to provide the same level of compliancy across all data sources (XML, relational, legacy, etc.), providing software developers with a high degree of standards-based, reliable and stable XQuery performance in any environment.

The DataDirect XQuery product provides XQuery support for all major relational databases and runs on any Java platform. The standards-based software product enables Java developers to access XML, relational data, SOAP messages, EDI, or a combination of data sources using a single XQuery. This significantly simplifies data management and integration in heterogeneous environments and enables developers to build high-performance applications more quickly and efficiently.
