Pentaho Extends the Benefits of Open Source BI
May 5, 2008 - Pentaho announced the availability of Mondrian 3.0, the latest release of the companys OLAP server, a key component of the Pentaho Open BI Suite.
Mondrian 3.0 has enhanced analytics and other features, including cell-level security and aggregate role support. The enhanced analytic functions can be used by organizations in a variety of industries.
Key New Features of Mondrian 3.0 include:
- Advanced analytics capabilities and support for a broader range of OLAP applications,
- Cell-level security and aggregated role support for much greater control over who can access what information,
- Streamlined and simplified path from design to rollout of OLAP applications,
- Support for the OLAP4J API, an open standard for OLAP APIs developed by the open source community,
- Support for JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface) for more flexible connectivity to data sources,
- Mondrian Schema Workbench, a graphical designer now integrated with the Pentaho platform and supported by Pentaho, and
- Updated integration with the Pentaho Open BI Suite for seamless OLAP integration with reporting, dashboards and the Pentaho BI Platform.
