In Memory of David Koch
It is with deep sadness that we dedicate this issue to the memory of our dear colleague and friend David Koch, Associate Publisher of DM Review magazine. David visited Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, on May 25, where he was last seen after riding a tram to the top of the mountain. It was determined that David died in a hiking accident, and his body was not recovered until June 7. We extend our heartfelt thanks for their extraordinary efforts to find David to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, North Shore Search & Rescue volunteers, a team of climbing rangers from Mount Rainier, all of David's friends and park visitors who searched the mountain to find David.
David touched so many lives in a positive way, and we will miss him more than words can express. David was an amazing individual, always willing to provide encouragement and support. He had a ready smile, an endearing nickname for each of us and a positive attitude toward work and life. He will be dearly missed by the many people who were lucky enough to know him. We extend our sincere sympathies to David's wife Suzanne and all of his family.
David joined DM Review in July of 1996. He has been a friend and mentor to all of us, and his death impacts us profoundly. Our memories of David's love and commitment to his wife and family, his love of the outdoors - especially fishing, his engaging personality, his infectious smile, his knowledge of the industry and his dedication to our magazine and his customers are memories that will be with us always and sustain us as we mourn this loss.
While he is gone from this earth, David will always be with us in our hearts.
