Are there any national or worldwide business intelligence consortiums or associations?

by Douglas Hackney  and by David Marco

Summary: Are there any national or worldwide business intelligence consortiums or associations?

Q:

Are there any national or worldwide business intelligence consortiums or associations? I am interested in joining or starting a chapter within my area.

A:

Douglas Hackney’s Answer: The International Data Warehouse Association http://www.idwa.org/ and The Data Warehouse Institute http://www.tdwi.org/ are probably the closest thing to a BI forum today. I think you’ll find a true BI organization forum in the next year or so that will directly address the wider scope of BI versus the narrow focus of data warehousing.

David Marco’s Answer: While they don’t focus on business intelligence DAMA is a fine organization with many BI professionals
