DM Direct Writer's Guidelines

DM Direct delivers business intelligence and data warehousing issues and solutions to corporate executives and IT management. DM Direct is DM Review magazine's e-mail newsletter and is published four times a month. It is delivered electronically to more than 58,000 subscribers and is directly linked to the DM Review Web site (www.dmreview.com).

Submission Requirements:

  1. Articles should focus on timely business intelligence, performance management, analytics, integration and enterprise data warehousing topics listed on the DM Review editorial calendar.
  2. Articles should present an issue, trend, strategy or solution for an audience of corporate executives and IT managers.
  3. Articles must be product- and vendor-neutral.
  4. Deadline for magazine article submissions is three months prior to issue publication date. If you are not submitting for a particular editorial calendar opportunity, we will consider your article for digital or Web publication.
  5. We require copyright release of articles for publication.
  6. We reserve the right to edit articles for length, grammar and style.
  7. Suggested length is 1,500-2,000 words.
  8. Articles should be submitted via email in Microsoft Word format.
  9. If you are not sure that your article focus is appropriate for DM Review, you may submit an abstract. However, we require the complete article, including an author biography, to make a publication decision.
  10. Content must be the author’s original work.
  11. Proper credit must be given to authors whose work is incorporated into the article in the form of footnoted references. Citations must include: author name, title of article or book, publication in which article appeared or location and publisher name, and date of original publication. If it is a quote from a live event, include the speaker name, title of lecture, title of event, location and date.
  12. Supporting graphics may be included with the article. Occasionally it is not possible for us to use accompanying graphics due to space limitations. It may be necessary for us to recreate your graphics.
  13. Refer to The AP Stylebook and articles we have published for examples of DM Review style.
  14. In its first instance, state the full term, then the acronym in parentheses. Use the acronym thereafter.
  15. Limit bios to 85 words or less.
  16. There is no remuneration for published articles.
