ChoHung Bank Selects MicroStrategy for Enterprise-Wide Reporting and Analysis
Founded in 1897, ChoHung Bank is the oldest bank in Korea, with more than KRW5.4 trillion won in revenue reaching an estimated 10 million customers through approximately 560 domestic and international branch locations. The bank selected the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform for enterprise-wide reporting and analysis.
Approximately 200 employees perform reporting and analysis on customer credit management, risk management and marketing information against a 1Terabyte Sybase data warehouse. In addition, ChoHung Bank is able to better track its customers' credit habits and activities, uncovering new revenue generating opportunities through targeted up-sell campaigns. ChoHung Bank plans to create future applications to enhance their risk management analysis and to report on employee productivity and performance.
"With our MicroStrategy-based solution, we've been able to increase operational efficiencies by providing our employees with easy-to-use tools that enable them to analyze and report on critical information promptly without relying on an IT department," said Jung-Bin Shin, assistant manager of IT Development Team. "Our employees can create personalized reports to more efficiently identify and analyze only the information that is important to them."
PureEdge XML E-Forms Solution Selected by State of Washington
The State of Washington has chosen its enterprise PureXML e-forms solutions to replace its paper-based filing process and assist with the development and implementation of an Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS). The PureEdge solution will streamline the registration procedure and create operational efficiencies through an electronic form-based process.
Death certificates are used in the U.S. for administrative and public health purposes. Until now, States have managed centralized vital records agencies to collect, process and archive death certificates, through a highly labor-intensive, manual registration process. By moving to an EDRS, the State of Washington will be able to reduce operating costs and create an electronic database that is easier to manage and access.
The automated EDRS solution should conform to the standards, recommendations and best practices of the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS) and the National Center for Health Services (NCHS). Individual States can customize their EDRS solution while maintaining the required level of standardization.
"PureEdge XML-based e-forms were selected because of their rigorous, standards-based approach that meets the needs of our high function and high security application. Automating the capture of information will speed the registration process and reduce the amount of incorrect entries," said Mike Phillips, project manager, State of Washington EDRS Project.
Major Bankcard Issuer Selects Rhythmyx 5 Citing Predictable Cost, Flexible Delivery Architecture, Standards-Based Technology and Easy Content Reuse
Headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Metris Companies is one of the largest bankcard issuers in the United States. The company has seven locations in four states and issues credit cards through Direct Merchants Credit Card Bank, N.A. of Phoenix, Arizona. At the end of 2002, the company's management decided to create an intranet, to meet the following goals:
- Improve communication within the company,
- Provide an online community for employees,
- Enhance efficiency and profitability, and
- Leverage the Web as a platform for delivering internal business processing applications.
Incorporating a content management system was seen as key to the intranet's success, and after evaluating a range of solutions, Metris selected Percussion's Rhythmyx 5 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system. According to Metris' Enterprise Application Architect, Jeff Michaelson, Rhythmyx 5 was the best fit for their needs. "We were attracted to Percussion and Rhythmyx for a number of reasons, including a flexible delivery architecture that enables the easy reuse of content in multiple contexts and a predictable licensing model that fit our budget," he said. "The Percussion technicians and training staff also were able to work with us while we created our intranet, including the implementation of the content management system in only six weeks. It's quite an achievement."
Haworth Selects BusinessObjects Data Integrator to Combine Data Sources and Ensure Information Accountability
Haworth Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of office furniture, has standardized on Business Objects. A global company with more than $1.2 billion in sales in 2003, Haworth uses Business Objects business intelligence solutions to track, understand and manage operational performance. As part of Haworth's initiative to unify its BI platform on Business Objects, the company recently selected BusinessObjects Data Integrator 6.5, the real-time and batch data integration platform from Business Objects.
As Haworth continues to grow, it is critical that they develop a business intelligence system that ensures information accountability, which will allow managers across the company to work from a single version of all corporate information and make decisions based on timely, accurate data. Previously, Haworth used several different business intelligence tools, which led to conflicting interpretations of the same data. By standardizing reporting and data integration technology from Business Objects, Haworth has improved managers' ability to make business decisions confidently. Today employees in the finance, logistics, purchasing and marketing departments use Business Objects to obtain accurate and timely information on their operations. Haworth is also using Business Objects to structure data specifically for its Six Sigma initiative.
Haworth selected Data Integrator for its functionality, ease of use and ability to integrate with their existing databases and Business Objects infrastructure. With Data Integrator, Haworth can extract information out of Oracle applications and databases, and rapidly prepare it for reporting and distribution with the Business Objects infrastructure. Since implementing Data Integrator, Haworth has substantially increased the accuracy of its data and reduced the time of the entire BI process. Business Objects Professional Services Organization (PSO) worked closely with Haworth to deploy Data Integrator and consult with employees to ensure the system addressed their requirements.
"As part of our decision-making process, we formed a cross-functional team to determine our strategic direction and select one BI provider," said Steve Wilkins, Information Services application manager for Haworth. "Our group selected Business Objects because it provides the most breadth and depth in terms of products, services, and innovation. Business Objects Data Integrator is a great example of this - it is very powerful and intuitive, whereas the previous solution took longer and did not retrieve all the data that users wanted. Now we have a more reliable ETL solution that frees up IT resources to focus on other projects."
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Hawaii Selects Verity TeleForm MediClaim to Automate Processing of Medical Claim Forms
Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) will deploy Verity's TeleForm MediClaim content capture solution to streamline forms processing in both paper and electronic formats. HMSA is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA).
After an extensive evaluation of content capture and forms processing vendors, HMSA - the largest provider of health care coverage in Hawaii - selected Verity to enhance the processing of its standardized healthcare information forms, such as HCFA 1500 and UB 92 claim forms as well as its non-standard forms for enrollment and correspondence.
HMSA's initial use of Verity's sophisticated process-automation features will focus on capturing the medical claims into an electronic format and then transitioning all claims to MediClaim. The expected results are greater accuracy and efficiency achieved in less time. The goals for the project include improving claims productivity rates and achieving economies of scale by automating the processes associated with additional forms and documents.
"We will be able to reduce processing and data entry costs using Verity TeleForm MediClaim to automate our manual processes," said Gordon Hilton, HMSA's chief information officer. "The real value will be in Verity's ease of use, giving us the ability to implement solutions quickly, enjoy rapid user adoption, and process a wide variety of form types with form identification features that will reduce processing time."
Verity's open-systems approach allows the local BCBSA affiliate to integrate easily with Documentum, enabling the organization to transfer form data directly into its existing document management system. This will significantly reduce the costs associated with archiving data and the production, storage and retrieval of paper forms.
