Evoke Unlocks Mainframe Data with MA/Extract

On May 24, Evoke Software Corporation announced that the company has started shipping MA/Extract for VSAM, a product that makes data stored in VSAM and sequential files readily available for analysis by Migration Architect. The new product works with Evoke?s Migration Architect to reduce the time and cost of migrating legacy data. MA/Extract for VSAM replaces a complex manual analysis and programming task with an automated process that captu res data structure from COBOL file definitions and allows the user to validate this structures using samples of actual data. This information is then used to determine the best way to format the data for processing by Migration Architect. Once the ideal format is determined, MA/Extract performs the extraction and prepares the data for profiling and mapping.

Cognos, IBM and Microsoft Deliver Business Intelligence Offering for Mid-Size Enterprises

A combined product offering was announced on May 26, which offers to provide a cost- effective solution for delivering business intelligence for small- to medium- sized enterprises. This collaborative effort between Cognos, IBM and Microsoft delivers a complete end-to-end business intelligence solution for data warehouses, and the combined offering represents a single solution under the umbrella of the IBM ServerProve n Program. The collaboration enables solution providers to sell a complete solution consisting of: the new version of Cognos NovaView 2.0, IBM?s Netfinity Server and Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. This combination of hardware and software gives customers access to corporate data and the means to better measure their business, synchronize decision making and maximize profitability.
