Interwoven, Inc., an enterprise content management (ECM) company, announced an alliance with iManage, a provider of collaborative content management software for global enterprises, to deliver a fully integrated, next-generation collaborative document management solution for the enterprise. The solution, "Interwoven Collaborative Document Management Solution (CDM) powered by iManage WorkSite MP," enables enterprises across a variety of industries to facilitate collaboration on projects and teams, resulting in increased process efficiency and higher quality in new product development, customer account management and project management. "There is a growing trend among companies seeking applications that will support content management as well as document collaboration for the enterprise," said Garth Landers, senior analyst, Gartner Inc. "The alliance between Interwoven and iManage demonstrates the coming together of two very strong domains to address a growing market need, while complementing each company's core area of expertise."
Enterprises are searching for ways to improve collaboration among individuals, teams and organizations in order to increase the efficiency and quality of business processes. The result, in most cases, is content that must be shared among internal and external teams and through a variety of means, including enterprise portals and enterprise applications. Today, companies require a solution that addresses the overall collaborative document life cycle, from loose sharing among teams to more structured document development and approval cycles to fully automated and secure document publishing and dissemination. "Organizations are increasingly demanding a solution that can manage all types of business content across the enterprise, but no one vendor has yet met these requirements," said Andy Warzecha, senior vice president, META Group. "To address the issue of end-to-end content life cycle management requires a comprehensive solution that provides knowledge workers complete control over the creation/capture, editing, sharing, approval, publishing and life cycle management of content among departments and across multiple enterprise applications."
