Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) Addresses Issues with 11i Migration

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) held its annual North American conference last week in San Diego, Calif. Highlights of the conference included the development of a new, 10.7 de-support Special Interest Group (SIG), the official availability of OAUG's new e-Learning Initiative (which provides OAUG members and Oracle applications users with electronic seminars on topics such as financials, purchasing, human resources and customer relationship management (CRM)/manufacturing) and an increased level of support and participation from Oracle Corporation executives and professionals. The OAUG Customer Support Council held a focus group session to discuss the concerns of OAUG members migrating from 10.7 to 11i prior to Oracle's announced de-support date of June 2003 and it was decided that a committee within the OAUG Upgrade SIG should focus on obtaining a resolution of this issue. Upgrade SIG chair, John Stouffer, volunteered to initially chair the 10.7 De-Support Committee within the Upgrade Special Interest Group. "Initial plans are for the 10.7 De-Support Committee to work closely with OAUG and Oracle to discuss the implementation of support to bridge the gap for the customers who cannot migrate from 10.7 prior to the published de-support date," said Stouffer. The conference provided attendees the opportunity to participate in user paper presentations, expert panels, training sessions and a "hands-on" demonstration area. In addition, it featured a number of high profile speakers including keynote speaker, Susan RoAne, networking and communication author, Cliff Godwin, senior vice president, application technology for Oracle, Jacqueline Woods, vice president, global pricing and licensing strategy for Oracle and Don Haig, vice president, outsourcing services for Oracle. In addition, OAUG announced a new level of membership in the organization - the $275 Individual Electronic Associate membership, which entitles members to voting rights, the ability to participate in board elections and e-Learning and full access to the OAUG Web site, e-News and listserver.
