Now that data warehouses are an established commodity, information management specialists are spending a great deal of time figuring how to take their program to the next level. "They are asking themselves: 'Where do they go from here?' and 'How can I bring more value to the organization?'" says Wayne Eckerson, research director for The Data Warehousing Institute. "They are looking for ways to get funding and sponsorship."
Eckerson, speaking at TDWI World Conference - Fall 2001 in Orlando, FL, says data warehousing managers need to get the business side of the enterprise more involved in business intelligence initiatives. "Business comes first and the business side needs to feel they have some ownership and stake in the warehouse," he says. "This will help sustain funding and sell system usage from the bottom up."
