Another Player Enters The Portal Development Arena

    Online News published in DMReview.com
June 29, 2001

Even though the market for enterprise portal development is still embryonic, that fact isn't keeping BackWeb Technologies, a San Jose-based developer of push technology, from throwing its hat into the ring.

Though still working on its software development and marketing plan, the company says that it will use its Proactive delivery technology to build enterprise information portals.

"By leveraging BackWeb's push technology experience with portal technology, we are ensuring critical content doesn't get ignored," says BackWeb CEO Eli Barkat. BackWeb has marketing alliances with SAP and IBM, which could help the company as it looks to book business in the $6 billion portal development market.
