Firstlogic Joins MIT's Total Data Quality Management Research Consortium
La Crosse, Wis., Aug. 1, 2000 ? Firstlogic, Inc., a leading provider of data quality software solutions, announced it has become an industry sponsor of the Total Data Quality Management (TDQM) research program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The TDQM program is a joint effort between members of the MIT information technology group, industry partners and related industry-specific research programs at MIT to devise practical methods for business and industry to improve data quality. Motivated by evidence that strategic corporate initiatives are increasingly vulnerable to defective data, the TDQM program focuses on three major research components: data quality definition, analysis, and improvement. The objective is to establish a rigorous theoretical foundation on which to construct a new paradigm for data quality management.
``For our research to be meaningful, we must interact closely with industry leaders that have knowledge of how businesses approach data quality issues,'' said Stuart Madnick, co-chair of TDQM and professor of information technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management. ``Firstlogic is on the leading edge in advocating a value chain relationship between high quality data and successful operation of a business enterprise. We are very pleased to have Firstlogic as a sponsor in the advancement of TDQM.''
