White Plains, N.Y., May 8, 2000 -- Optum, Inc. announced a strategic alliance with Origin, a global consulting and technology firm, to provide e- fulfillment solutions for the European market. Together, the companies will address a growing need for advanced logistics solutions to help companies quickly and profitably fulfill customer orders across traditional and Internet sales channels.

As one of Europe's leading providers of services that support the implementation, operations and maintenance of enterprise applications, Origin is uniquely positioned to introduce North America's leading fulfillment solutions to the European market. Through the alliance, Optum will become Origin's first partner in the advanced logistics and fulfillment execution space, creating significant sales opportunities for the companies, both within Origin's extensive base of installed customers and the greater market at large.

"The first wave of e-commerce was primarily an American phenomenon, but today the European market is rapidly embracing e-business opportunities and turning to Origin for strategic advice," said Peter Overracker, executive vice president of global sales, account management and marketing at Origin. "Our partnership with Optum will enable us to provide our customers with the proven, advanced execution capabilities they need to manage fulfillment across channels and countries."
