Wayne Eckerson Appointed Director of Education and Research for the Data Warehousing Institute
Gaithersburg, Md., March 11, 2000 ? The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), an educational association in the data warehousing industry, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Wayne Eckerson as director of education and research. He will oversee TDWI's highly acclaimed education and training programs, broadening their focus while maintaining TDWI's reputation for quality and depth. In addition, Eckerson will direct and expand TDWI's research programs and member publications, including the FlashPoint, the Journal of Data Warehousing, annual surveys and in-depth reports.
"I am eager to help evangelize the role that business intelligence plays in key new markets, such as E-commerce, customer relationship management, value chain integration, personalization, and B2B marketplaces, among other things. Eckerson comes to TDWI with more than 11 years of industry experience. Prior to joining TDWI, Eckerson was director of the Patricia Seybold Group's Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse Service and coordinator of the group's B2B e- business coverage. Eckerson has written and spoken extensively on data warehouse and business intelligence subjects since 1994. He has published in- depth reports on data marts, data warehousing databases, online analytical processing (OLAP) technologies, Web-based query and analysis tools, customer relationship management technologies and architectures and personalization strategies. Eckerson writes a monthly column for DM Review, has consulted with many large user and vendor companies on business intelligence issues and has given speeches at numerous industry conferences and seminars.
