SAS joins forces with Veritect To Provide a Premier Information Security Solution
SAS, a leader in e-intelligence and data warehousing, announced that it has entered into a multimillion-dollar strategic partnership with Veritect, a Veridian company, to offer an information security solution to help organizations protect information resources and manage their network environments. As part of the agreement, both companies will extend their managed service efforts to enhance and build upon each other's respective expertise in intrusion detection.
The array of information security services will be the first of its kind to combat a broad range of cyber attacks. SAS offers more than 24 years of experience in analytics and sophisticated decision-support systems including detection of offline security breaches. Veritect combines 25 years of inherited network management security experience along with one of the most extensive databases of known threats and vulnerabilities in the information security world.
"Our combined security solution will reduce the threat felt by so many organizations today,'' said Andre Boisvert, president and chief operating officer of SAS. "Our partnership enables us to continue providing our customers more value with a strong return on investment ? the highest level of security for information protection with the most powerful data mining tools available.''
Because both groups have independent offerings for the security market, SAS and Veritect will combine tools and services that build upon their individual strengths. The goal is to intercept the sophisticated, expert intruder who uses probing and attack methods designed to circumvent normal security controls and goes undetected. Veritect plans to use SAS' data mining capability for a system that analyzes large amounts of data gathered by the many security and network monitoring devices that reside in a company's information system.
