Vienna, Va., Aug. 18, 1999 - MicroStrategy Inc. announced that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has purchased MicroStrategy DSS Suite as the business intelligence platform for its retail data mart (RDM) application. With MicroStrategy's software, USPS will provide managers and employees with better information on sales and inventory for popular retail items sold at post offices nationwide, resulting in better service to postal customers.

The $1.5 million contract, signed in the second quarter of 1999, includes an initial 1,250 software licenses of MicroStrategy DSS Web for Internet-based analysis, consulting and training to support the first phase of the installation. The USPS award comes on the heels of several other major contracts for MicroStrategy's Government Solutions business area.
