The NPD Group Joins DATAllegro Customer List

The NPD Group has joined DATAllegro's growing list of customers. NPD is now using DATAllegro's 'C' series data warehouse appliance for retail point-of-sale analytics.

After being introduced to DATAllegro in June of last year, NPD began a benchmark with DATAllegro and another leading data warehouse appliance vendor. After evaluating results from both vendors, NPD selected DATAllegro based on both performance and value.

Food Division of GraceKennedy Joins More than 45 Global Customers for Support of SAP Applications through Business Process Excellence

The Food Trading division of GraceKennedy, one of the Caribbean's largest corporations, has selected IDS Scheer's Application Support Center (ASC). IDS Scheer's Application Support Center provides Level I, II and III support for all SAP applications.

GraceKennedy is one of the Caribbean's largest corporations. IDS Scheer SME will provide ASC support for GraceKennedy's Food Trading Division, which encompasses 14 food companies that currently optimizes ARIS SmartPath for Consumer Products/Food which is an enterprise solution based on mySAP All-In-One bundled with industry-specific process reference models and consulting services.

CIBC World Markets Corp. Licenses the GoldenSource Solution

CIBC World Markets has licensed the GoldenSource Customers and Counterparties solution for its US institutional business. CIBC World Markets selected GoldenSource as the central data maintenance and storage application to support the firm's Know Your Client and Anti-Money Laundering compliance capabilities.

GoldenSource will implement the unique business process CIBC World Markets has defined for managing how new accounts are created, corporate background and due diligence checks are researched, and how supporting legal agreements are captured and stored. Background data will be automatically requested from a third-party research vendor and logged and recorded upon receipt from the vendor. CIBC World Markets will now benefit from real-time access to PDF versions of legal agreements from within the GoldenSource Customers and Counterparties solution.

A major factor in CIBC World Markets' selection of GoldenSource is the ability of the GoldenSource Customers and Counterparties solution to support the bank's proprietary risk scheme that assigns a risk rating to each CIBC World Markets' client and their associated accounts. CIBC World Markets' proprietary risk algorithm will also be utilized to manage account documentation renewal. Based on this risk rating, the GoldenSource solution will automatically prioritize client accounts and the associated documentation and produce a daily list of accounts that must be re-assessed and undergo document and compliance review.

Quixtar Uses Actuate to Provide 3.1 Million Easy-to-Use Web Reports

Quixtar, a business opportunity company offering entrepreneurs the ability to have a Web-based business of their own, is utilizing the Actuate Enterprise Reporting Application Platform to provide more than 3.1 million, timely, easy-to-use Web reports annually to Quixtar Independent Business Owners (IBOs). IBOs now have access to an enterprise-class reporting platform that allows them to align with business goals and appropriately react to market changes, with the efficiency once only available to large corporations.

Quixtar IBOs market products and manage their businesses via the Internet through Quixtar.com. Each month, Quixtar provides more than 200,000 reports and statements to its IBOs on the state of their businesses. In addition, Quixtar generates more than 700,000 end-of-year summary reports for IBOs. Prior to implementing Actuate, Quixtar generated paper-based reports that were sent to IBOs through traditional mail - a time-intensive and complex process. With Actuate's Enterprise Reporting platform, IBOs can now access their reports and bonus statements online at Quixtar.com within hours rather than weeks - enabling them to more rapidly and accurately evaluate the state of their businesses.

Providence Health & Services Rolls Out Ensemble-Based Data Warehouse

Providence Health & Services (PHS) has gone live with an enterprise data warehouse built on InterSystems Corporation's Ensemble universal integration platform. The integration project, which highlights the growing trend of leveraging a wide range of data sources to enable optimal health care decision making, was rolled out in January.

With more than 45,000 employees, PHS operates acute care facilities, freestanding long-term care facilities, and low income and assisted living facilities across a five-state area in the Pacific Northwest. Ensemble is being used to integrate information flowing from 12 systems that include 30 data repositories located in Everett, Olympia and Centralia in Washington. The integrated data feeds the Horizon Performance Management (HPM) data warehouse from McKesson Corporation.

The integration initiative is expected to have a far-reaching impact on future business strategy at PHS. It supports standard cost accounting and service line analysis across the region, enables elimination of two legacy decision support systems and provides a single source of information for strategic decision making.

Ensemble's rapid integration and development functionality was key to the success of the data warehouse initiative. Ensemble provides an innovative, unified graphical, XML and code-based development environment that accelerates modeling and automating business processes for business analysts and technical developers. Ensemble also facilitates smooth communication. As a result, PHS business analysts were able to rapidly spec out the interfaces and work easily with the software developers and the result was faster integration and development.

High performance was another technology requirement for the complex integration project. From a hospital acute setting, more than 400,000 encounter records will be streaming into the warehouse annually. In addition, more than 1.5 million encounter records will flow in from more than 150 physicians' locations and clinics, providing concrete evidence that Ensemble's ability to deliver the high performance needed to manage massive data volumes was important to the success of this project.

The Etat de Vaud in Switzerland Reduces Postal Costs By 67 Percent Using Exstream Software's AFP Jazz!

The Etat de Vaud, Canton of the Swiss Confederation, is successfully using Exstream Software's AFP Jazz! software to optimize the production and delivery of correspondence to 380,000 tax payers. The Etat de Vaud estimates annual savings of 100,000 CHF ($76,000 USD) using AFP Jazz! for print stream optimization, sorting, bundling and consolidation of advanced function production (AFP) files.

The UID-DFIN, IT unit of the Canton of Vaud finance department, initially selected AFP Jazz! for its robust capability and performance in consolidating high-volume AFP print streams, its user-friendly graphic interface and its ease of integration with existing systems. Each tax notice sent out by The Etat de Vaud comprises seven or eight pages based on three to five templates produced by two different systems. Using AFP Jazz!, the Etat de Vaud is able to merge print streams from the two systems, regroup the documents and print the correspondence two-sided, reducing postal costs by two-thirds. Further, the Etat de Vaud reports increased productivity using the AFP Jazz! intuitive graphic user interface to execute the most complex operations. Previously, these operations required resources with an in-depth technical knowledge of AFP structures.

"When you wish to work with the AFP format, AFP Jazz! is the solution of choice," said Monique Losey, project manager of document production services at UID-DFIN Etat de Vaud. "AFP Jazz! has allowed us to solve our problem of high-volume print production while taking into consideration our specialties, specificities and particularities."

In the future, the Etat de Vaud plans to reduce costs and improve productivity even further using Exstream's AFP Viewer software, which allows users to preview and make changes to AFP documents online before printing. Additionally, the Etat de Vaud will investigate the use of Exstream's AFP products for optimizing lower volume document workflows.
