Hard Rock International to Utilize MicroStrategy Software for Operational Reporting and Analysis

Hard Rock International, one of the most globally recognized music, entertainment and dining brands, has chosen the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform for reporting and analysis of key performance metrics throughout company-owned cafe locations.

MicroStrategy's software will provide Hard Rock's management staff with comprehensive, operational information. Hard Rock will use this information in its efforts to increase the profitability of each cafe location and region.

"We selected MicroStrategy because we need a scalable platform with an easy-to-use Web interface that provides a single source for mission-critical reporting and analysis," said Kelly Maddern, Hard Rock International's Senior Director of IT. "MicroStrategy allows us to extend valuable insight to users in the cafes and corporate departments through content-rich, user-friendly reports that empower them to make more strategic and proactive decisions. This will allow us to better assess performance and enhance operational efficiencies."

National Frozen Foods Chooses QlikView to Strengthen Leading Market Position

National Frozen Foods Corporation, one of the oldest and largest family-owned frozen food processing firms in the United States, has selected QlikTech's innovative business analysis tool, QlikView, to help boost production.

National Frozen Foods will use QlikView to empower its employees across the company to analyze production and supply data in real time, enabling the company to react quickly to changes in demand, thereby increasing productivity.

Founded in 1912, National Frozen Foods has grown to become one of the leading frozen vegetable processors in the U.S., providing microbiologically safe frozen vegetables. The company provides a worldwide service, employing more than 600 full-time employees and an additional 1,400 seasonal workers throughout Washington and Oregon. With such a large number of employees requiring access to large amounts of data daily, National Frozen Foods urgently needed a business intelligence solution.

"Leveraging technology to sustain our competitive advantage is critical to our success," said John Meersman, director of information technology, National Frozen Foods. "Implementing QlikView gives our employees fast, comprehensive data access and analysis capabilities. Employees at all levels of the company will now get the right information when they need it, helping our company maintain a leadership position in the industry."

Jefferson City Medical Group Selects Double-Take for Disaster Recovery

Jefferson City Medical Group (JCMG) is an independent multi-specialty health care group that is committed to providing the very best in compassionate and comprehensive healthcare to its patients. With 65 physicians and nurse practitioners and more than 500 employees at its six locations, the group provides a one-stop shop for a variety of patients' healthcare requirements.

With the need to have constant access to patient records, paired with concern over recent natural disasters, the group decided to look at backup and recovery options for its electronic medical records system. The staff required a cost-effective, reliable solution that would successfully protect important patient data in the event of a computer failure or natural disaster. JCMG's consulting group, Integrated Solutions Group, suggested they review NSI Software's Double-Take solution.

"If the billing or accounting systems fail for a period of time, we can still see our patients," said Phil Hartman, director of information services at JCMG. "But our medical records system is the core of serving our patients, and that cannot be compromised. We looked at a number of storage solutions, such as disk warehouses and server farms, but they did not provide the availability and cost-effectiveness that comes with Double-Take."

Impressed with Double-Take's ease of use and compatibility with a Microsoft Windows environment, JCMG installed the software onto its electronic medical records system. In accordance with their documented disaster recovery and contingency plans, the staff simulated the failure of a production system and attempted to recover the data and make the system available from their remote location in Columbia, Missouri.

"Double-Take far exceeded our expectations," said Hartman. "We didn't lose any information, which gave us a great sense of validation and security. Double-Take is a valuable investment and gives us a high comfort level that our patients' records are always getting backed up."

Insight Investment Manages Risk with BizFlow

Insight Investment, one of the UK's largest asset managers, has selected HandySoft's BizFlow to manage its Incident Reporting System (IRS). Insight Investment's IRS is an automated system for reporting losses, near misses, regulatory breaches, complaints and other control failures, enabling escalation and issues tracking across the entire company. Adding BizFlow, HandySoft's award-winning BPM platform, to their risk management suite will assist in the management of risk across their business by increasing the accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of incident management and reporting.

"Traditionally, we have developed 'best-of-breed' application architectures which are primarily based on integrated package applications purchased from market-leading vendors. These applications provided most of the core functionality needed for our Incident Reporting System, but there were a number of manual processes which required better controls than the current platform allowed," said Peter Lethbridge, head of information technology at Insight Investment. "Following a thorough evaluation of solutions provided by a number of BPM vendors, Insight decided to purchase and implement BizFlow. We expect to leverage this investment to deliver real benefits to other areas and applications of the business."

Financial services providers have no choice but to automate their complex business processes in order to remain competitive. They have to create a seamless front for the customer and the front-line customer support that ties together a myriad of business units, back-end systems, and a wide range of applications. Moreover, they have to do all this in a way that gives decision-makers throughout the enterprise - from the customer accessing information and services on the Web to executives - the visibility and insight they need to make sound and timely decisions.

The Mortgage Bankers Association Deploys Two Web Sites Using Percussion's Rhythmyx ECM System

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), the national association of the real estate finance industry, has deployed two newly enhanced Web sites, one serving its membership and the other more consumer-focused, using Percussion's Rhythmyx Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system. With Rhythmyx, the management of site content has been simplified and the development cycle improved. Sites under Rhythmyx management include MBA's predominant domain, www.mortgagebankers.orgas well as www.homeloanlearningcenter.com, MBA's consumer education Web site that delivers the information and tools necessary in understanding the home buying process.

"Revamping the MBA Web site and enhancing our consumer education Web site have been major projects," said MBA's chief information officer, Brandie Fennell. "Rhythmyx fits our development philosophy. It has given us the out-of-the-box functionality we've needed and doesn't force us into unnecessary customization that would complicate future upgrades."

MBA selected Rhythmyx to replace several homegrown CMS systems following a competitive evaluation of five CMS vendors. Over time, the association plans to continue deploying the software throughout its large, multisite environment. Some key reasons MBA chose to use Rhythmyx include easy centralization of content management, .NET integration and database publishing, and scalability of the Rhythmyx De-Coupled Delivery architecture.

Distribuidora Flexi Now Live and Receiving Value from I2 Solutions

Distribuidora Flexi, the largest manufacturer of footwear in Mexico, recently went live with solutions from i2 Technologies, Inc. The company uses i2 solutions to perform consensus demand forecasting, constrained manufacturing planning, capacity planning and materials planning across its entire product lines.

Distribuidora Flexi has been in the business of designing, manufacturing and selling quality footwear for approximately 70 years. The company runs seven integrated plants and one central warehouse in Leon, Mexico. In addition to the manufacturing capabilities, Distribuidora Flexi also owns and operates a network of 60 stores located in Mexico. The company selected i2 solutions because they felt they were the best suited to help manage the global nature and constantly changing landscape of the footwear manufacturing and retail business.

"We selected i2 based on our discussions with i2's industry leading footwear customers as well as the company's capabilities in process, organization and performance measures. We implemented i2 solutions in order to be well prepared to adapt to changes in market demand and global pressures," said Roberto Plasencia T., commercial director, Distribuidora Flexi. "Robust planning processes and superior forecasting capabilities will keep our company ahead of the curve well into the future. We intend to work closely with i2 now and in the future to further extract value from our supply chain for more efficient business processes."

The project started with a six-week consulting engagement enabling the i2 consulting group to introduce Distribuidora Flexi to i2's thought leadership in supply chain planning best practices, identify areas of opportunity and develop a roadmap to implement i2 solutions. The i2 consulting engagement primarily focused on conducting strategy sessions with Distribuidora Flexi's core team, enabling the joint team to compare supply chain industry best practices against current business processes to identify key areas of opportunity. This process resulted in the Distribuidora Flexi and i2 team making several key recommendations for process, organization and technology improvements and a roadmap to implement these recommendations. Distribuidora Flexi then worked together with i2 to implement the recommendations and install i2 solutions to improve demand management and master planning process across their entire product lines and facilities.
