    Online News published in DMReview.com
November 22, 2005

The winners of the Fifth Annual Portal Excellence Awards were announced at DCI's Portals, Collaboration and Content Management Conference in Miami last week and were co-sponsored by DCI and by DM Review magazine.

The awards were presented in four categories: Best Employee Portal, Best Customer or Partner Portal, Best Content Management Application and Best Knowledge Management System. DCI's Portals Conference Chair, Colin White of BI Research led the panel of judges.

Zach Wahl of Project Performance Corporation, Shawn Shell of Consejo, Inc. and Clive Finkelstein of Information Engineering Services were also judging and joined Mr. White in presenting the awards.

HCR Manor Care was given the award for the Best Employee Portal, based on their business process-oriented portal. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics was given the award for Best Customer or Partner Portal, based on their supply chain portal. Exception Software Strategies and their customer, the Department of Defense Acquisition System were given the award for Best Content Management Application. This was in recognition of their efforts to upgrade the rulemaking, formerly accomplished through fax, email and FoxPro. Microsoft Corporation and their customer, Unisys Corporation were given the award for Best Knowledge Management System. This was based on their implementation of Knowledge.Net, available to 36,000 Unisys employees.

Submissions for the 2006 Portal Excellence Awards will be accepted during the second quarter of 2006. For more information, visit www.portalsevent.com.

DCI's Portals, Collaboration and Content Management Conference is next being held in San Diego on April 4-6, 2006, at the Hotel del Coronado and will include sessions detailing the techniques used and lessons learned by the Award finalists.
