Yankee Group Acquired by Alta Communications

    Online News published in DMReview.com
November 21, 2005

Yankee Group, the world's largest research and advisory firm focused on communications and networking technologies, announced that an investment group led by Alta Communications, a private equity firm, and Emily Nagle Green has acquired the firm from previous owner Decision Matrix Group, LLC.

As the technology industry's first research firm, Yankee Group has been advising corporations for more than 35 years on how to adapt and excel in the evolving communications and information industries. Recent research in wireless applications and municipal broadband business models demonstrates Yankee Group's leadership in delivering powerful, timely and global analysis with a strong quantitative foundation to clients, including telecommunications carriers, vendors and corporate enterprises.

In a related move, longtime Yankee Group President and CEO Brian Adamik is stepping down after a transition period to pursue other opportunities. "Yankee Group and its clients have benefited greatly from Brian's dedicated stewardship over the past decade. On behalf of the company, its employees and its clients, we thank Brian for his leadership and wish him well," MacDonald said.

Taking Adamik's place at the helm effective today is Emily Nagle Green, a research industry executive who served most recently as CEO of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Inc. "I've known and respected Yankee Group's work since I first became a client of technology research in the late '80s. It's an exciting time of change in the industry and I'm confident that Yankee Group's strong brand and independent heritage provide a solid foundation for growth. Alta and I are delighted to become a part of that mission," Green said.

No other immediate changes are planned. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
