Firstlogic and Pitney Bowes Agree to End Pursuit of Planned Merger

    Online News published in DMReview.com
November 15, 2005

Firstlogic, Inc., a global provider of enterprise information quality solutions, announced that Pitney Bowes, Inc., and Firstlogic have verbally agreed not to extend their merger agreement when it expires November 15.  This will conclude Pitney's planned acquisition of Firstlogic, which had been publicly announced September 1.

"After reviewing the Second Request for Information issued by the Federal Trade Commission, we mutually decided that it was in the best interest of all involved not to proceed further with the acquisition," said Eric Lieberman, president of Firstlogic. "Although we are naturally disappointed in this result, we have also learned a great deal by going through this process that can make us a better company.  Our people did a great job of keeping focused on our business notwithstanding the uncertainty caused by the merger plans," Lieberman said.  "I am excited to see how we will capitalize on this new opportunity."

Firstlogic is a leader for enterprise-wide information quality and print and mail solutions.  In addition to developing commercial solutions, Firstlogic partners with many systems integrators, consultants, and original equipment manufacturers to provide its unique technology to their end-user customers. Founded in 1984, Firstlogic today serves thousands of customers worldwide, including Global 2000 companies across a broad spectrum of industries.
