UGS Selects Idiom to Streamline Globalization of Product Documentation

UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product life cycle management (PLM) software and services,has chosen Idiom's WorldServer GMS (Globalization Management System) to accelerate worldwide delivery of product documentation for their PLM solutions while streamlining translation and localizations costs. Initially, UGS will use WorldServer to deliver both structured (XML) and unstructured documentation content in 10 languages.

WorldServer provides significantly increased levels of translation reuse through highly scalable, centralized translation memory and related capabilities. By accessing this advanced TM repository, UGS is assured of the quality and reusability of their previous translations. WorldServer TM also provides the sophisticated matching, searching and management capabilities necessary to support the company's large-scale globalization efforts. It will now be possible for UGS to reduce the cost and time associated with delivering global content compared to non-automated or desktop TM approaches, while improving quality.

WorldServer also offers powerful vendor management features that allow UGS to integrate language vendors and freelance translators into WorldServer workflows. The WorldServer Software Development Kit (SDK) provides UGS with additional flexibility by giving the company the ability to extend or integrate WorldServer with other UGS systems.

Poindexter Systems Using SAS Enterprise BI Server to Enhance Online Marketing Campaigns

Poindexter Systems, a leading provider of behavioral targeting solutions for advertisers, is using SAS Enterprise BI Server to simplify its massive database structure and strategically customize its online marketing campaigns. Poindexter will tap into SAS' business intelligence solution so both internal and external clients can easily access reports at any level.

"SAS Enterprise BI Server provides what I consider to be the most elegant view and pre-processed control of OLAP cubes that I've ever seen," said David Montgomery, vice president of marketing analytics at Poindexter Systems. "In order to enhance our clients' advertising effectiveness online and increase their customer responses the way we've planned, we need to create separate OLAP cubes and streamline control of database structures for each individual campaign, and only SAS gives us the power and scalability to do that.

Transportation Security Administration Implements MicroStrategy Software to Assess Airport Security Nationwide

The Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Office of Strategic Management and Analysis, part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, has implemented the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform to analyze transportation security operations at commercial airports nationwide. The solution was implemented by McLean, Virginia-headquartered BearingPoint, Inc.

TSA executives, Federal Security Directors, and TSA field staff use MicroStrategy's software to assess and streamline the performance of commercial airport security operations. MicroStrategy anchors TSA's Performance Management Information System (PMIS), which collects, analyzes, and reports passenger and baggage screening data. Operational performance metrics, such as wait times at selected airports, TSA staff utilization and screening equipment utilization are collected and reported via the PMIS system.

GoldenSource Selects Sunopsis to Complement its Proprietary Data Model

GoldenSource Corporation, a global software provider of enterprise data management (EDM) solutions to the securities and financial services industry, and Sunopsis Inc., a technology innovator in the data integration market, announced that GoldenSource has selected Sunopsis ETL as a recommended tool for the efficient extraction of highly normalized data from the GoldenSource Datamodel into a data mart for intelligent queries and reporting. The Sunopsis ETL tool was selected for scalability and the way it complements GoldenSource's own data management technology.

GoldenSource helps customers consolidate and leverage their data by providing the data management infrastructure that transforms critical business data into actionable information. This data resides in a variety of siloed systems, and therefore in multiple formats. For instance, an order management system may define a customer in one way, while a back-end accounting system may define the same customer differently. Data integration, in conjunction with extract, transform and load capabilities, address these challenges and allow companies to transport, manage and synchronize large quantities of information across the enterprise to support business processes and enable enhanced decision-making.

The GoldenSource Datamodel is the foundation of the applications within the GoldenSource Enterprise Data Management suite. It is a comprehensive industry standard data model and an ideal data repository for a variety of static and transactional reference data including positions. Within the Datamodel the data is highly normalized to insure consistency. However, in today's demanding and highly regulated business environment, organizations need the ability to analyze data such as positions or transactions across many different dimensions to gain that insight that provides a true competitive advantage. In this situation a more denormalized data mart is required for specific queries and reporting.

The Sunopsis ETL tool implements an innovative extract, load and transform (E-L-T) approach, where transformations are performed as close to the data as possible, increasing the performance of the processes while decreasing their cost. This unique architectural approach generates native and optimized SQL code for each relational database management system (RDBMS), both source and target repositories, and orchestrates the execution of the statements created. As a combined offering, GoldenSource and Sunopsis can deliver the strategic architecture organizations need to solve their data management issues and realize the full benefits of that data.

University of Utah Health Care Selects Corporate Radar as its Enterprise Performance Management Platform
