Is there a standard/common format used when preparing an RFP in the DW/BI space?

Ask The Experts published in DMReview.com

  By Sid Adelman

Q:

Is there a standard/common format used when preparing an RFP in the DW/BI space? Are there common questions to ask or metrics to use? I don't mean a standard proposal for vendors, I am asking about consulting partners who would build the RFP hand-in-hand with your organization.

A:

Sid Adelman's Answer: All the large consulting organizations and most of the data warehouse boutiques have helped other organizations develop RFPs. A note of caution - if a consultant helps you write the RFP, they should be barred from responding to the RFP. Other vendors who might consider responding might believe that the fix was in and choose not to respond.
