    Online News published in DMReview.com
December 17, 2004

Ventana Research, a leading research and advisory services firm specializing in performance management, announced the launch of its newest research practice area, Innovation Performance Management (IPM) lead by industry expert Stewart McKie.

Ventana Research recognizes that innovation, as a value chain based on a business process, is a core competency of today's successful organizations. But a high performing innovation process demands the support of the CEO, CFO, COO and CIO. The Ventana Research Innovation Performance Management practice will focus on helping the CxO improve the generation, conversion and realization of innovation as a means to drive competitive edge and high shareholder value.

"Increasingly, organizations turn to Performance Management in their struggle to enhance returns and achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Innovation Performance Management is a distinct competence that helps organizations manage through the process of generating to converting and realizing innovation," explained McKie, IPM Global Research Director.

McKie will focus his IPM research on how organizations can utilize an innovation value chain and business process to ensure ideas and intellectual property (IP) are managed effectively. He has identified three key areas of focus in IPM:

  • Generating innovation through awareness and creativity
  • Converting innovation through ideation and product lifecycle management
  • Realizing innovation through IP and brand management
